Portraits, an impression of life
Don’t expect a ‘pretty’ face. These portraits show humanity in all its guises: tenderness, transience, vulnerability, youthfulness or the loss of youth. They have all the fascinating distinctiveness of real human beings. Their skin reads like a many-layered map of the human face.
The expressively drawn faces are confronted with the sober, white painted surfaces of the clothing: pure, minimalist and without detail.
The resulting works are simple and almost naïve, but at the same time they have a strong visual and emotional impact.
